Schiphol Airport has also advised passengers to arrive earlier at the airport as the A10 south motorway will not be functional until Monday. For this reason, passengers should take into account the time it can take to arrive at their airline.
Several Airlines Had to Cancel Flights in the Recent Days
In addition to the Dutch airline KLM, which operates more flights from the Schiphol airport, other airlines had to land flights due to the weather conditions.
These airlines include Vueling Airlines, British Airways, Air France, Finnair, Lufthansa, and Delta, all of which are popular flag carriers and transport thousands of passengers on a regular basis.
According to Airports Council International (ACI World), Amsterdam Schiphol Airport is the 14th busiest airport in the world, receiving around 52.4 million passengers every year. The same source revealed that the popularity of Schiphol Airport is on the rise since in 2021, it ranked 34th internationally; it has grown to become even more busy, climbing up to the 14th position.
As Statistics Netherlands reveals, 108,000 flights were operated in Schiphol between January and September, which is up by 18.5 per cent compared to 2023 figures. The number of passengers has also increased to 14.4 million, up by 17.4 per cent.
Passengers Seriously Upset by Schiphol Infrastructure & Prices
Several commenters on social media have criticised Schiphol for the quality of service it offers, mainly complaining about prices and poor infrastructure.
Another one pointed out that there is ‘quite a bit to be done’ to make the airport more attractive, with the comment highlighting that arriving at an airport is a necessity and not a leisure activity.
A netizen said that Schiphol should prioritise working elevators, escalators, and toilets when it comes to their services, expressing his dissatisfaction with the managing team.
