Poland will be holding the EU Council presidency for the first half of 2025, and during this six-month period, the country has a significant impact on the matters that it puts up for discussion or which challenges will be addressed.
EU Dialogue for Armenia’s Visa Liberalisation Is a Priority for Polish EU Council Presidency Round in 2025
The visit to the Armenian capital occurred right before the EU council presidency gets passed to Poland, which will be running until July when it will be Denmark’s turn to hold the presidency mandate for the second half of 2025.
The Polish President said during a press conference that Poland will make all efforts to implement obligations that are related to the process of EU accession while also showing support for the dialogue between the EU and America, which was launched in September.
France Has Vowed to Support Armenia’s Dialogue With EU
The French Prime Minister, Emmanuel Macron, told the Armenian PM that France would support Armenia’s initiatives for the European Peace Facility.
In addition, the Armenian PM asked France for its support for the visa liberalisation dialogue with the EU, which aims to scrape visas for Armenian citizens.
According to statistics published by EU Helpers, Armenians filed 80,356 visa applications in 2023. About 10,531 or 13.2 per cent of all visa applications were rejected.
The most popular destinations for the applicants from Armenia were Greece (21,267) and Italy (20,380), while Armenians filed fewer applications for visas to Czechia (3,043) and Slovakia (385), with the latter having the highest approval rates – 95.6 per cent of visas were granted.
Lithuania, Germany and Czechia all had visa approval rates that were higher than 90 per cent for applicants from Armenia throughout 2023.
