This week, Croatia implemented the Digital Travel Credential (DTC) project with the purpose of facilitating travel and enhancing passenger safety by utilizing cutting-edge technology, according to EU Helpers.
The project's sponsor, Certilia, stated that the digital travel certificate will provide various benefits for the nation's residents. According to what was previously said, individuals would receive notifications about border crossings via the Certilia smartphone app, and they will be able to use different exits to cut down on wasted waiting periods.
According to Total Croatia, the Croatian Interior Ministry's and the Agency for Commercial Activities' experts developed the IT solution for the digital travel certificate.
It was also mentioned that at the project presentation in Zagreb, all interested persons had the opportunity to be among the first to download a digital travel credential on their smartphones.
Jure Serti, chief director of the Agency for Commercial Activities, commented on the project and said it represents a great advancement in modernization and travel convenience.
It was noted that in addition to the aforementioned information, the app will initially be accessible for download on all Android smartphones.
It has been mentioned that IOS is anticipated to be usable before the end of the year.
The digital passport can be used for travel from the Zagreb Airport by those who download the app and supply the necessary data.
But as the project advances, so will the number of border crossings and the nations participating.
The DTC, or digital travel certificate, is just as trustworthy as a traditional passport. It makes it possible to traverse borders quickly and easily without sacrificing security.
Following Finland, Croatia is the second nation in the EU to test digital travel documents. Finland began testing electronic travel documents in August. According to the authorities, the electronic version will greatly simplify the travel process.
