According to a report from Infobae, the largest group of foreign nationals who completed this process the most came from:
- Morocco (134,510)
- Colombia (57,421)
- Bolivia (49,300)
- Ecuador (45,241)
The figures from the Spanish Ministry of Inclusion, Social Security and Migration show that a total of 646,952 women obtained citizenship through residency in Spain over the last ten years, accounting for 54 per cent of all naturalized Spanish nationals.
In addition, Latin American women were also the largest group of foreign nationals with a valid residence permit for study purposes in Spain.
Over 20,300 Women Came From Central & South America
According to the Ministry, a total of 42,814 women who obtained permits as of June 40, 2024 came from Central and South America. By country, the largest number of applications was filed by women from:
- Colombia (5,124)
- China (4,312)
- Peru (3,490)
There are a total of 3,401,041 foreign women in Spain holding valid residence documentation. Of the 48 per cent of documented immigrants live in Spain, while the majority of them come from the following countries:
- Romania (527,320)
- Morocco (401,444)
- Italy (208,826)
Based on the statistics from the Spanish Government, on February 28, 2025, there were a total of 1,242,635 foreign women registered with the Spanish Social Security System, or 43 per cent of the total number of foreign citizens, based on the statistics from the Spanish government.
More Than 240,000 Internationals Obtained Citizenship in Spain in 2023
Each year, a large number of foreign nationals complete the process of becoming Spanish citizens.
In 2023, a total of 240,208 foreign nationals acquired nationality in Spain, accounting for an increase of 32.3 per cent compared to 2022’s statistics. The same source revealed that of the total, 54.8 per cent were women.
According to the Office, the most frequent nationalities of origin were Morocco, Colombia and Venezuela.
