According to EU Helpers, they made these remarks at a trilateral meeting that took place in Trieste. The agenda items included increasing the number of mixed border patrols, establishing joint centers for police coordination, and scheduling frequent gatherings of relevant ministers and police commissioners from these three nations.
The Italian Interior Minister emphasized that the measure was implemented in Italy in a way that didn't bring major issues for cross-border workers, saying that data after the first ten days of reintroducing border controls on Schengen borders inspire optimism and show that the measure has been effective.
The Italian Minister reaffirmed that controls were reinstated after a threat study of terrorism, and they would remain in place until things improve.
According to Piantedosi, three decisions were made during the meeting: creating a joint police coordination center, establishing a permanent structure for the organization of mixed police brigades, and deciding to make these trilateral meetings frequent.
Slovenia's Interior Minister, Boštjan Poklukar, stated his hope that another nation may choose to join this project.
He insisted that the three ministers were dedicated to making sure that foreigners were prevented from entering the Western Balkan republics as tourists and then leaving for the west, saying that the issue of visa policy would need to be settled at the EU level.
The Minister also reaffirmed his support for the functioning of Frontex, the European Border and Coast Guard Agency, in Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as for the entry of Bulgaria and Romania into the Schengen Zone.
Poklukar also declared that Nenad Nešić, the minister of security for Bosnia, will be visiting Slovenia this week.
As to the statement released by the Slovenian government, the primary issue, in the opinion of Croatia's Interior Minister Davor Božinović, is the misuse of refugee policies at the EU level.
He emphasized that all foreign nationals traveling from Croatia to Slovenia and then Italy are registered. In Božinović's opinion, controls at major border crossings are not as successful as mobile police patrols.
According to data provided by the EU Border and Coast Guard Agency (Frontex), there were 279,350 irregular border crossing attempts detected at the EU's external borders in the first nine months of this year. The most active migration route was the Western Balkan migration route, which was recorded in September of this year.
