Hassanzadeh has highlighted the need for easing Spanish visas for Iranian traders, adding that such a decision would significantly enhance bilateral relations between these two territories.
In addition, Hassanzadeh also called on Spain to extend the duration of visas issued, according to the Tehran Times.
The Head of Iran Chamber of Commerce said that the current trade volume between Iran and Spain is minimal in comparison to the capacities of both nations. He said that there is substantial potential for expansion of bilateral trade, particularly in industries like food, petrochemicals and mining.
On the other hand, the Spanish diplomat Antonio Sánchez-Benedito Gaspar expressed his eagerness to further tighten connections with Iran, stressing that in spite of the fact that Spain is Europe’ fourth-largest economy and Iran has vast natural human resources, the current trade volume of €300 million does not reflect the true potential of Iran and Spain economic relations.
The Spanish diplomat assured that Spain is committed to streamlining visa issuance for Iranian traders endorsed by ICCIMA, paving the way for stronger economic collaboration.
All Nationals of Iran Need to Obtain a Visa to Be Permitted Entry to Schengen Area
Nationals of Iran are required to apply for a visa first when planning to travel to Spain, regardless of their travel purpose.
Therefore, Iranians are required to head to a local embassy, consulate or visa centre in order to apply for a visa before travelling to Spain.
Through a statement provided in August this year by the Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry said that nationals of Iran are required to obtain a visa in order to transit through an international area of any airport located in Schengen countries in order to take a connecting flight to a country outside the Schengen Zone.
The Ministry stressed that, in addition to Iran, nationals of the following countries will be subject to the same rules: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Ghana, Iraq, Nigeria, Pakistan, Somalia and Sri Lanka.
