According to the Embassy, his office in Cabo Verde is primarily responsible for managing lengthy applications as well as other kinds of visas for travel to France and its overseas territories, according to EU Helpers.
As previously stated, the new service began operating on September 18 at the VFS Global Centre premises in Praia, the nation of Cabo Verde.
This indicates that VFS Global will approve all Cabo Verdeans' requests for long-term French visas.
Once the application has been approved, the decision-making body will decide whether to grant the applicant a visa or not. VFS Global will then inform the applicant of the outcome.
Applications for short-term Schengen visas will still be handled, according to the Embassy, through Portugal's presence in the nation, which handles them on France's behalf.
When attempting to enter any of the Schengen Member States, citizens of Cabo Verde must apply for a Schengen visa.
Depending on the type of visa, applicants must present a number of documents while applying for the document.
In general, all Schengen visa applicants must send their passport, two passport-size pictures, and the fully filled visa application form.
In addition, candidates must provide evidence of having paid for travel health insurance, proof of lodging, and evidence of having sufficient financial resources, among many other things.
Cabo Verdeans have complained about the lack of appointments and the high number of recorded instances of their applying through intermediaries, despite the fact that they must follow the same visa processes as citizens of other nations that require visas to join the EU.
In response to these reports, Portugal urged all Cabo Verdeans to submit their applications directly rather than through middlemen.
According to information made public, middlemen in Cabo Verde are charging people applying for Schengen visas up to €180 only to make an appointment for them.
Concerns over this led Portugal's government to urge Cabo Verdeans to schedule their own appointments through businesses that have been contracted to do so, such Common Visa Centre.
