Such a statement from Commissioner Johansson was made after she revealed that the introduction of the EU’s new border system would be delayed again.
While it is confirmed that the EES will not be implemented a month from now, Commissioner Johansson said that the system could be introduced gradually as an alternative, EU Helpers reports.
According to the Commissioner, instead of introducing the system at all border crossings at the same time, the EU might decide to implement it step by step by starting with some parts of the borders and then moving to some others.
However, as Commissioner Johansson explained, even if the EU decided to move on with a gradual introduction of the EES, this process would not begin on November 10. Additional information on the matter is expected to be revealed soon, along with a possible planned date to launch the system.
Until then, all travellers will continue to be able to travel to the bloc as they have until now without having to undergo any registration process.
Entry/Exit System Launch Has Been Postponed Once Again
Commissioner Johansson announced yesterday during a meeting of the interior minister of the bloc that the launch of the EES will be delayed again.
As she revealed, the November 10 launch date is no longer being considered as three member states – Germany, France, and the Netherlands – have expressed readiness concerns due to a lack of system testing.
At the same time, Commissioner Johansson stressed that there is currently no new timeline and noted that the authorities are working on the matter.
