After further information was exchanged through the SIRENE Bureau of the International Police Cooperation Center General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, 418 individuals who were the subject of SIS alerts were found in Romania, according to EU Helpers.
According to the same source, Romanian police officers executed 19 European arrest warrants in total. They also found 60 people who had been reported by EU Member States as refusing to enter or remain in the Schengen Area, 192 people who were wanted to appear in court, and 10 people who had been reported missing by Schengen Zone partners.
In addition, 38 cars sought by Schengen Zone partners were found in Romania, and 36 documents were brought there to be either confiscated or utilized as evidence in court.
Of these, the press release stated that eight were wanted for taking part in a legal proceeding, eight had disappeared, 20 had been reported by Member States as having been refused entry or stay in the Schengen Zone, and 19 were being pursued by Romanian Police based on European arrest warrants.
Furthermore, the foreign partners found 15 documents and two cars that the Romanian authorities were looking for on their property in order to qualify them or use them as evidence in criminal proceedings.
According to earlier reports from the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police (IGPR), between December 15 and December 21, authorities in Romania and their international partners discovered a total of 858 persons who were the subject of SIS alerts.
Furthermore, according to IGPR, SIS warnings were generated for 63 vehicles and 27 documents during the same time frame. It stated that 647 individuals had been located in Bucharest as a result of information sharing via the International Police Cooperation Center's SIRENE Bureau.
With over 40 million alerts about people and objects, the Schengen Information System (SIS) is one of the largest databases in the member states of the European Union. It enables relevant authorities to exchange and handle information about missing or wanted people, irregular entry attempts, and other related issues.
